Raymond Joseph Frank Kuberski

Raymond Joseph Frank Kuberski, 79, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of the Du Quoin area, passed away at 1:25 P.M., Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at the Jefferson Barracks VA Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Raymond was retired from the Well Health Clinic in St. Louis City.  He was of the Catholic faith.  He attended Tamaroa High School.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II.  He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nehenta Bay CVE 74 from January 1944 to March 1946.  Among the many ribbons and metals awarded, he was awarded six Battle Stars on the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, two Battle Stars on the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the ship was awarded the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.
He was born September 14, 1924 at Tamaroa, IL, the son of Michael and Anna Jane (Waligorski) Kuberski.
He married Ruth R. Bowlby on January 23, 1954 at Du Quoin, IL and she preceded him in death on May 7, 1985.
He is survived by one son - Steven Kuberski of St. Louis, MO, two daughters - Barbara Fowler and Betty Gill, both of St. Louis, MO, one sister - Regina Owens of Benton, IL, four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter - Deborah Kuberski and two sisters - Gertrude Povolish and Theresa Walk.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Epworth Cemetery at Murphysboro, IL.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Murphysboro American Legion Post 127, Murphysboro VFW Post 7190 and Carbondale VFW Post 2605.
